Old Ironsides needs a new home

I am selling one of my favorite things. I bought this display model of the USS Constitution a few years ago(with much protest from my wife). The best word I can use for it is impressive. It measures over 58" fore to aft and stands at just under 42" tall. As model ships go, this is a big one. Built by hand using plank on frame construction. This is a museum quality piece.

I have listed it on craigslist and have put this blog entry up to show some additional pictures. If you are interested in purchasing it, I am asking $425.00 or a reasonable offer.

Link to a similar model from the same company, that is currently for sale on their site for $1299.00. It is the 40" length model. THIS ONE IS 58"LONG! They no longer offer any models at this size due to the extreme cost and difficulty in shipping. My shipping was nearly what I am asking for this model, as it required door to door hand delivery in a custom built crate.

I think most individuals prefer something more manageable. This model is ideally more suitable for a museum or school. I just gave it a careful but thorough dusting and replaced some of the rigging that was beginning to fray. Overall I would say it is in very good condition.

Feel free to call me at 314-775-6361 any time to arrange to see it. Please be serious about purchasing it if you call. Local Pick up only. GO NAVY!!

Things I do NOT have a problem with

Recently Rep. Pete Stark (D-CA) made some heated comments on the floor. He said "You don't have money to fund the war or children. But you're going to spend it to blow up innocent people, if we could get enough kids to grow old enough for you to send to Iraq to get their head's blow off for the president's amusement."

I just want to say thank you to Representative Stark for saying what I think many of us think. I am disappointed by the lack of support that his fellow democrats seem to be showing him.

I try not to blindly align with one side or the other, since I think both sides have been less than effective in recent times. We need more straightforward, honest, and heartfelt dialogue like what we have heard from Representative Stark.

A message to our government. Quit telling us what you think we want to hear. Tell us the truth. Stand up for your beliefs, unpopular or not. We are all big kids. We can take it.

Just in time for Halloween!

We've just had a nice murder in my neighborhood. It happened across the street and up one from my house.

Bonus Question: Without reading the article, identify which of these two people where the victim.

Here is video from Channel 4.

Here is Channel 5 video. If you see the little Black Scion XB in the driveway, that is my house.

Here is Channel 11, which I highly recommend watching the video for the great cameo appearance by my buddy ******* ********.

Here is the full article link from the paper and I have copied it here since the paper usually deletes them after a while.

ST. CHARLES COUNTY — A St. Charles County man said he strangled his girlfriend in a "meth-induced rage" Tuesday morning and stashed her body in the trunk of her car, authorities said Thursday.Michael E. Estep, 27, of the 1000 block of Providence Pointe Drive near Wentzville, was charged with first-degree murder in the strangling of Tamera Hauser, 47. Estep was being held Thursday in lieu of $500,000 bail.Lt. Craig McGuire of the St. Charles County Sheriff's Department said Estep told investigators he had been using methamphetamine for "three or four days" when he and Hauser began arguing.Sheriff's Detective Jana Walters said in a court document filed Thursday that Estep admitted he strangled Hauser, duct-taped her at her ankles, arms and waist, then put her body in the trunk of her car parked in front of the home where they had been living for the past three weeks.

A co-worker of Hauser's called police about 9:25 a.m. Tuesday, when she did not show up for work. By early afternoon, a missing-person report was being issued to police agencies.Estep called sheriff's deputies about 3:15 p.m. Wednesday and said he had information about a missing person, McGuire said. When detectives arrived at the home Wednesday afternoon, "he was very nervous and acting really weird," McGuire said."One of our officers asked, 'Is she alive?' and he said, 'No,'" McGuire said.McGuire said the couple had known each other for about a year. Estep has no previous criminal record in St. Charles County. The killing is the third in the county this year.Hauser had worked at MTM Inc., a medical transportation company, based in Lake Saint Louis, for seven years.Estep had been working as a cook at the 54th Street Grill in Wentzville, said Mark Wade, 41, an autoworker who had been renting Estep and Hauser a room in his house for the past three weeks.Wade said the couple had been planning to move out Tuesday, and he became worried when he had not seen or heard from Hauser. Wade said he was good friends with Hauser and said she didn't use drugs."Tammy was such a good person," Wade said. "She really had a kind heart."Wade said he is distraught that she may have been strangled in his house while he was asleep."I feel like if I didn't let them stay here, it might not have happened," Wade said.Co-worker Sandra Spooner described Hauser as outspoken and a dedicated worker who loved her two chihuahuas."She was a fun-loving person who took work seriously," Spooner said. "You couldn't help but just love her. We're very sad."Funeral arrangements were pending Thursday.

Fuck the articles!

Something useful. Of course no one really cares about the article. Here is a nice gallery of every centerfold in the history of Playboy.

CRAZY Christian ALERT!

I saw this a year or two ago on "Trading Spaces" or one of those quality programs. Still funny to see how nuts some people are.

More like ANAL Roberts as in ASSHOLE!

I love reading about these types getting caught with their hands in the cookie jar.

"Richard Roberts is accused of illegal involvement in a local political campaign and lavish spending at donors' expense, including numerous home remodeling projects, use of the university jet for his daughter's senior trip to the Bahamas, and a red Mercedes convertible and a Lexus SUV for his wife, Lindsay."

I don't have any problem with what they are doing, just that they hide behind a veil of religious bullshit while doing it.

Matthews Blasts the Bush Administration

Can't wait to see this on the Daily Show. After a very entertaining interview about Matthews book the other night, this should be hilarious.

"The Clinton camp, he said, never put pressure on his bosses to silence him.

“Not so this crowd,” he added, explaining that Bush White House officials -- especially those from Vice President Cheney's office -- called MSNBC brass to complain about the content of his show and attempted to influence its editorial content. "They will not silence me!" Matthews declared."

I want to build this

I've been wanting to build a custom wall clock for a while and this one looks promising. Check out their site. They are Share Brained Technology. They call this one the Chronulator.

PSA Make sure to hide your porn

Apparently when she found his porn stash, she "confronted the victim, got a gun and shot him multiple times, including two to the head." Then "also went to the garage and smashed the headlights of her boyfriend's motorcycle, smashed out the windows of his car, and scratched the nickname of one of the porn models in the photographs into the side of his car."

After seeing her picture, I can see why he needed some porn. Read the whole story here.

A Vagina like a Wizard's Sleave

That headline cracked me up. I stole it from Daily Rotten, but anyway here's the story. Some gal pooped out a 17 pound BABY! My son is 4 and only ways like 40.

Here's a link to the full story.

Sometimes it's a conspiracy...sometimes not so much

Recently read about how high schools give the names of students to military recruiters. Oh, no shit, what a shock. Anyway, I felt the need to leave a comment. Here is a link to the article, and here is a copy of my comment.

Emmett says:

One reason they give the information to recruiters? Schools receive federal money. Same thing for colleges. Any college that receives federal funding has to allow them access to the campus. Private schools have the option to refuse. Just thought you would like to know. Of course most schools give their students credit for being able to make their own decisions, they also give the name to colleges trying to suck their parents money as well. It's just more advertising. Get over it! Not interested. Don't sign up. I can't speak for all recruiters past/present/future but our high schools are one of the only pools they can draw from and like it or not they are just trying to do a job. That job is to find willing, qualified, and hopefully eager candidates. Not an easy task in these times.
