Well I guess we are FUCKED!

This is absolutely scary. I know the president can't know everything, and I don't expect him too. But, come on he's actually joking about this like it's no big deal, business as usual. If you don't know, the folks at Blackwater are being investigated for killing unarmed civilians. Please George, show SOME class.

Things have changed?

Well, the Navy really looks like a bunch of out of touch dips on this one. Apparently now they include training to help the recruiters understand the "young" people they are recruiting. I was a recruiter for the Navy and I thought this kind of thing would be a given considering that most of the recruiters are fulfilling only their 2nd or 3rd tour. They are often as young as 21 and seldom older than 30 unless they are the recruiter in charge. Apparently, to quote Christian Slater in Pump up the volume, "Society is mutating so rapidly that anyone over the age of twenty has really no idea." . By the way, that movie came out in 1990.

Fat can be funny

Now, don't get all upset if you are bigger than average(which in America is FAT).

They're called sizes. They are printed on little labels, usually inside the neck, on shirts. Check into them. Or perhaps a mumu.

Western diet + Eastern heritage=well at least they found each other.

When do you think the parents finally said "Fuck it, let him eat whatever he wants."?

At least they got it on film. Otherwise no one would have believed them.

A new reason to buy more beer

Always impressed with any model building, especially scratch built.

I really hate Hummers ............the SUVs

I like the way these people think. I think a lot of our problems as a country come from our dependence on foreign oil. I drive a Scion Xb that does everything I need a vehicle to do. Sure I'd like to have a nicer or bigger vehicle, but simply cannot justify most of the larger vehicle's I see being sold. As far as I am concerned, if you are getting less than 20 mpg out of your personal vehicle, YOU are part of the problem.

Check these guys out FUH2

I thought these people were supposed to be able to get things done.

A video I saw today pretty much sums up the situation we have got ourselves into in Iraq. Whether you support the war or not, this video helps illustrate one of the biggest problems currently facing the our country. Our elected government is either unwilling or unable to execute our wishes.

This is an interview of Nancy Pelosi explaining what she has done and plans to do to help end the war.

Hint: Not much

I actually have tremendous respect for cops

First, I have to say. I think being a cop is an incredibly hard job. I wouldn't want to be one for anything. Mostly because I'm sure I'd be this kind of cop. I couldn't keep my cool while dealing with the endless supply of idiots in the world.
However, I have to side with this young man. The encounters he has taped are at the very least entertaining. But think about how he is having his rights violated. In both these situations the cops are letting their emotions come into play. Luckily neither situation involved a weapon or became physical. I wonder what would have happened if there was no camera? Scary.

Article and video #1

Article and video #2

These are 2 seperate incidents with the same driver and appear completely unrelated.

I seriously hope that my son doesn't have to ever deal with this kind of cop.

I have had 3 experiences with cops that I feel I was unfairly dealt with. I've had several when I deserved everything I got and probably deserved a LOT worse. In general I've found cops to be professional, helpful, and willing to cut you a break when you have committed a crime and you cooperate with them. My problems were always when I hadn't done anything and had nothing in my car illegal. I think they actually get frustrated when there is nothing they can ticket you with or charge you with. I would love to get some comments on this one.

REALLY nasty looking Halloween skull

I used some of the techniques found at Creepyfx (plus 2 years experience making removals for the city Medical Examiner) to help create this little beauty for Halloween. I think it is actually too gross to put outside. I think it may upset some of the kids. Anyway, it is for sale on Craigslist right now, so go check it out and buy it. I could use the cash. Here is the link on Craigslist.

Check out Creepyfx to find out the basics of making your own. A great family activity. They sell a web based how-to guide. I bought mine on Ebay a couple years ago.

High Dynamic Range Photography

I first heard of High Dynamic Range(HDR) photography several months ago and was instantly drawn to the great colors and overall look. Here are 2 VERY amateur attempts I made using Photomatix.

Photomatix is free, but it will leave a watermark unless you pay for the full version. All the full version does is remove the watermark.

Tips: You absolutely, must use a tripod.

Here is the link to Photomatix.

If you just want to look at other peoples work check out Flickr.

It has begun!

Today is the first day in my new, and first blog. Coincidentally, it is also my son's birthday. Hope you will find something interesting to you here soon. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
